The banking sector has been the pioneer in regulating the new teleworking agreement. This was announced this week by media such as Business Insider with the headline “The new banking agreement already includes teleworking: banks must offer workers a computer, mobile phone and ergonomic chair.” Seeing “ergonomic chair” written next to “computer” or “mobile phone” makes us think and understand that the ergonomic chair is a work tool, equal to, or more important than, technological devices such as the laptop. Beyond entering into the debate on the level of importance of one work tool versus the other, what we do want to emphasize is the brutal impact that our seat, in most cases a chair, has on our physical and mental health.
Sitting is unnatural. Moreover, sitting for long periods of time and with a bad posture is very harmful to health, it overloads the lumbar area, leading to back pain, weakens the buttocks and increases the likelihood of suffering from certain diseases. Without exaggerating in the least, we spend an average of 8 hours a day sitting, about 240 a month and about 2,800 a year. More time than in bed.
Almost no one doubts the importance of having a quality mobile phone or computer for work. However, there are still many people who question the need to buy what they consider an “expensive ergonomic chair”.
At Ergonomika we are clear about this. Based on our experience, the reality is that those who doubt the benefits of an ergonomic chair is because they have never tried one. Those who have tried an Aeron ergonomic chair or a Variable kneeling chair will never buy a chair from any e-commerce where the first word that comes to mind is offer.
